RBG NZ Director Jo has just returned from travelling to Bangkok for the completion of some dental work. It was a hectic seven days, but well worth the results! She had her decayed teeth in her upper mouth extracted and replaced with the Noble Implant “ All on 5” . For the bottom, she had a crown, a 4 piece bridge and whitening of my remaining teeth. Rebekah was part of Perth's recent group tour in March. She had a breast augmentation, rhinoplasty by Dr Piyapas at the Bangkok Hospital, Phuket and a full dental make-over.

The surgical procedure used to create dimples is fairly simple and commonly done on an outpatient basis. The procedure involves simulating the natural way a dimple is formed, and connecting the skin and the cheek muscle . So when the muscle contracts, it pulls the skin inwards to form a dimple.

Usually performed under local anaesthetic, the surgery takes about 30 minutes and normal activities can be resumed immediately.

So, you walk in without a dimple and leave with your desired facial indents . And this procedure is reversible if one doesn't like the results. It is relatively easy to cut the sutures within the first month or so after surgery which is in the time frame when one should know if the result is acceptable.

My trip was great ! Everything went perfectly - from being picked up at the airport and hotel, I was met at the hospital and everything was done very efficiently and smoothly. Dr Piyapas is such a nice doctor. He even gave me a wedding present on the day I had my follow up and he wants me to send him some photos from the wedding day (which is in October). In a few weeks I am going to take some after photos and send them to him also for his files.

As for my procedure - I was pretty groggy the first day out of surgery, and my fiancé came to meet me in the afternoon (which he was able to stay the night in the spare bed in the room). The nurses and hospital staff were fantastic, not an hour went by where I was not being attended to or checked on, vitals taken etc. the hospital was very impressive, from the building, to the facilities, the room, the staff.

I am very happy with the results. I am still in recovery mode with quite a number of bruises (which are just about faded, a few more days and they should be gone) and the stitches should dissolve in the next week or so. I am still stiff and sore but getting better every day. So in a couple of weeks, I should be feeling normal again. The swelling has only just gone and I can now see the results for real, which there is a big difference in my shape and size! I was still quite swollen when I had my follow up appointment at the hospital so I was unsure as to how effective the procedure had been. But now that I have been home for a week and improving, I am certainly able to tell.
